Gothenburg 2021 is one of the most important positioning and vision-building projects for the city. The task, set by the City Executive Board, is to draw up a plan for celebrating Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary in 2021. The aim of the project is that the anniversary should make an international impression that will help shape the city’s future.
The working model is based on an open process with two main approaches. An interactive website enables everyone to contribute their ideas, while working groups concentrate on seven different perspectives: the green city; city of culture; city of learning; the young city; city of experiences; city of growth and the open city.
Planning work is now well underway in each of the working groups and the dialogue with residents of the city will continue throughout autumn. Together we are putting together an anniversary plan that will be presented to the City Executive Board in May 2012.
