  • Chairman of Gothenburg receives international entrepreneur award

    Anneli Hultén, Chairman City of Gothenburg and Chairman of Göteborg & Co, has received an award in Singapore for her efforts to support and develop entrepreneurship.

    She got the award, Entrepreneur for the World, in the category “Politicians” at the ongoing World Entrepreneurship Forum in Singapore.

    The Jury sais:

    “Mrs Hulthén has been awarded for her great involvement in the promotion of entrepreneurship in Gothenburg. Three main initiatives have highly interested the Jury, the Brew House, the Business Emergency and the Expedition Forward. These initiatives reflect perfectly some best practices to be highlighted on the international scene as it strengthens the entrepreneurial community within a city.”

    The three initiatives all started at the municipality-owned Business Region Göteborg.

    - I am extremely proud, happy and honored. In my role as Chairman of the City and Business Region Göteborg, I would like to focus on entrepreneurship in our city and region. This award shows that the city’s strategies for entrepreneurship are good and gives results, says Anneli Hulthén.

    Best City for Entrepreneurship in 2007

    The award has been awarded since 2009 and aims to encourage the personal engagement on entrepreneurship. Previous winners are Christine Lagarde, former minister of Finance in France and now head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Mary Robinson, former President in Ireland.

    It is not the first time Gothenburg is rewarded internationally for the city’s work with entrepreneurship. In 2007 Gothenburg was selected as the Best City for Entrepreneurship of the European Cities Entrepreneurship Ranking (ECER).
